Jamanee Gunya is a non-profit organisation set up to run courses in Aboriginal culture. We run an Indigenous Health Weekend Workshop for University students and any money raised goes toward running courses for Indigenous youth. Situated on the South Coast of NSW, Jamanee Gunya also runs one and three day cultural awareness tours for visitors. Anyone is welcome to attend our courses. Director Noel Butler who is Aboriginal has been teaching indigenous culture for over 25 years. He has taught in the Kimberleys in Northern Queensland and Central Australia. He has worked with the Education Department, the Juvenile Justice department , National Parks and now works independently. Jamanee Gunya is situated in Milton on the NSW South Coast. Noel has an extensive curriculum from which he draws, which is nationally accredited. He is also a Horticulturalist and has a profound knowledge of local flora and fauna. Jamanee Gunya offers courses for Aboriginal youth who are either in need or would benefit from learning about their own culture. Many teenagers have low self-esteem particularly Aboriginal youth who choose not to identify or be proud of their Aboriginality. Any donations are tax deductible. |
